STEMming the Tide
Chris trained as a conductor at the Royal College and Royal Northern College of Music, going on to win joint first prize at the Besançon International Conducting Competition and second prize in Cadaqués.
As a result of these successes, he worked in France, Austria, Spain, Holland, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Australia, Russia, China and the U.S. as well as with many of the UK’s leading orchestras. In 2001, he started a research project with one of the world's leading music psychologists, Professor John Sloboda.
Together with other researchers, they made a breakthrough in the understanding of how music triggers emotion, and this work has taken Chris on a journey of discovery into music, art and perception.
